Privacy Policy

PARTICIPANT INFORMATION AND CONSENT

Thank you for taking part in this research survey, this project is being carried out by E.Mission Innovations Ltd and the University of Manchester. Please take time to read the following information. Ask us if there is anything that is not clear or if you would like more information. We know that reading a lot of small print can be confusing, so we have tried to make our privacy policy simple and concise.

 

What is the purpose of the survey?

We are completing research in the use of online recipes for cooking in homes, trying to understand if software can be trained to read recipes automatically from commonly used websites. This is the last of a 3-part survey. You will be offered £20 upon successful completion of this survey, when your response has been reviewed by a member of our research team.

 

What data will we collect?

Your name and email address were collected during Survey 1 in 2021, including your permission to share this survey with you. This was collected for us to be able to contact you with survey 3. You may withdraw from the research at any time by emailing info@emission.org.uk 

In this survey, we are collecting no personal information. Your data that we previously collected (in Survey 1) will be deleted in February 2022. This data included your age, ethnicity, education, household income, number of people within your household. The purpose of collecting this data was to ensure we survey a representative group of participants.

 

How we use your information

Your data will be securely stored and only accessed on equipment owned by the research partners. Your personal data will only be kept until the end of the research project in February 2022, at which point it will be deleted. We respect your privacy and will never share or sell your data to anyone. Your data will be shared between E.Mission Innovations Ltd and the University of Manchester only, and will only be used for the purposes of this project.

When analysing the results of the survey, your name and contact details captured will not be included to ensure you remain anonymous. This process is called data encryption.

 

How will you store my data?

All data collected from you remains confidential between you and the research team (listed at the start of this page). All of your data (including name and email address) will be stored in a password protected document, and only the research team will have access. You may email E.Mission’s Data Protection Officer at any time requesting all of your data be deleted in compliance with ‘the right to be forgotten’.

 

Your rights

By law, you have rights in relation to the personal information we hold about you. These include the right to:

  • See the information/receive a copy of the information;
  • Correct any inaccurate information;
  • Have any information deleted;
  • Limit or raise concerns to our processing of the information;
  • Move your information (“portability”).
  • Request human intervention when automatic decision making or profiling is carried out.
